Bob Tasca III Delivers Another Win For Ford Performance
NHRA drag racer Bob Tasca III has enjoyed his fair share of success behind the wheel of his Ford Mustang funny car over the years, racking up a bunch of wins while also setting a record for the fastest pass in drag racing history for a wheel-driven dragster with a scorching 341.68 mile-per-hour run during Q4 of the non-NHRA sanctioned PRO Superstar Shootout in Florida last year. That success hadn’t really continued into the 2024 season thus far, but Bob Tasca III did manage to deliver a win for Ford Performance this past weekend.
Northern Ohio Fourth of July Forecast: Morning Rain Clears for Evening Celebrations
Cleveland, OH – Northern Ohio residents can expect a wet start to their Fourth of July celebrations, but the skies will clear up just in time for evening festivities. The National Weather Service in Cleveland forecasts morning showers from 6 AM until 9 AM, with conditions improving significantly for the rest of the day.
SeaGate Food Bank to host golfing event
The SeaGate Food Bank will host its 9th annual Scramble for Food golf scramble Monday at Highland Meadows Golf Club, 7455 Erie St., Sylvania. The event will have a shotgun start at noon. Up to 31 teams are expected to compete. All of the funds raised will go toward purchasing food for the bank’s children’s programs. Potential teams can register at seagatefoodbank.org
Religious Offerings: Best selling author to speak at Jewish Federation
■ The Jewish Federation of Greater Toledo is hosting Wednesday a book talk with Emily Nussbaum, a New York Times best-selling author. Nussbaum will talk about her recent release, Cue the Sun! The Invention of Reality TV, which explores the origins of reality TV, its draw for so many viewers, tools of the trade, and tales of exploitation. The author will give a presentation, answer audience questions, and sign books, which will be available for purchase at the event. The program begins at 7 p.m. at the Franciscan Center, 6832 Convent Blvd., Sylvania. Tickets, $10, can be reserved at form.jotform.com/jewishtoledo/jfgtprograms.

Two hospitalized, including child, after Monroe Street crash
TOLEDO, Ohio — Two people were taken to the hospital early Friday after a west Toledo crash. Police and emergency rescue crews responded to the 4200 block of Monroe Street around 2:15 a.m. According to authorities, a driver lost control of their vehicle and left the roadway before crashing into a pole.
Summer Read program halfway complete, still time to join
The Toledo Lucas County Public Library is about halfway done with its Summer Read program, but there is still time for people to sign up, participate, and complete the challenge. Even if readers sign up now, they are still free to count any reading they’ve completed since June 1 to the goal of reading 30 days this summer. When readers sign up for the program, they will receive a pencil bag. Once readers complete half of the challenge, they will receive a mood pencil. At the end, kids and teens will get their choice of a book to take home, and adults will be given a mug. All participants are also entered in a grand prize drawing. Summer Read ends Aug. 3, and all prizes must be picked up by Aug. 17.

Recap: Juan Brito was 3 for 5 with three RBIs and Angel Martinez added three hits for the Clippers. Brito doubled in two runs in the fifth to give Columbus a 2-0 lead, then doubled in another run in the ninth to make it 4-2. Columbus used five pitchers.
