Oregon Coast Aquarium unveils new touch pool in renovated Rocky Coast gallery
The Oregon Coast Aquarium has unveiled another renovation, just in time for Memorial Day weekend. On Saturday, the Newport aquarium officially opened its Rocky Coast gallery (formerly known as Rocky Shores), home of its popular touch pool, where visitors can gently prod intertidal creatures like sea stars, urchins and anemones.

Contract awarded for new animal shelter
It has been a far longer process than most people expected, but a new Lincoln County Animal Shelter is another step closer to reality. The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners on Wednesday, May 8, awarded a bid for construction of the new shelter, which will be located in Waldport. Landmark Oregon coast hotel that’s full of books and shuns Wi-Fi has been sold
Forty years after two Portland women took a gamble on a tumble-down oceanfront hotel, the landmark Sylvia Beach Hotel in Newport has a new owner. Goody Cable and Sally Ford, who opened the doors of the literary-themed hotel in March 1987, signed the final papers Friday, turning over the keys to John Lee, managing director of the Portland-based VIP Hospitality Group. The sale price was not disclosed.
