Hillsborough jail deputy arrested on assault, battery charges in Brandon

A detention deputy with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office was arrested Tuesday on assault charges stemming from a dispute with a neighbor in Brandon.

Deputies arrested Cory Faircloth shortly after 8:30 p.m. while responding to an altercation between Faircloth and his neighbor outside a home on Blueberry Lane, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Faircloth, 55, faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and burglary of a dwelling with assault or battery.

The sheriff’s office did not release more details about what led to Faircloth’s arrest, and an arrest affidavit was not immediately available Wednesday.
