Florida Rapper Julio Foolio Shot And Killed While Celebrating 26th Birthday In Tampa, Attorney Claims He Was ‘Ambushed’

The Hip-Hop community is in mourning as several outlets report that Jacksonville, Florida rapper Julio Foolio , born Charles Jones, was shot and killed in Tampa this weekend while celebrating his 26th birthday.

The rapper shared several Instagram Story posts on Saturday (June 22), revealing that he was celebrating his 26th birthday with a pool party at a local Airbnb. However, at some point during the celebration, the police shut the party down, forcing the rapper and friends to change locations. The rapper wrote, “Police shut us down and kicked us out Airbnb. That’s crazy work.”

Despite the police intervening, Julio Foolio shared another update and said, “Best birthday evrrrr. Appreciate everybody who pulled up. We turnt up ’til we couldn’t no more. We on the way to the show now, y’all pull up.” The rapper then posted a flyer to an event in Tampa, which would be his last post to his Instagram Story before being confirmed deceased by his attorney, girlfriend, close friends, and entertainment company Los Entertainment, which put together the event he promoted.

The company took to their Instagram Story and said, “R.I.P Julio Foolio. It’s sad for me to say this, but it has been confirmed. Julio Foolio was shot and killed this morning. Truth Eighteen sends the upmost condolences and blessings to the family and loved ones of this young man. We want no harm to come to any of our special guests, customers, and staff. Be safe, Tampa.”

The rapper’s reported girlfriend wrote, “Y’all took my boyfriend from me. I hate y’all and I won’t be the only one crying.” One of the rapper’s reported friends also wrote their condolences on social media and when asked if he was lying, he replied, “Why would I lie about somebody’s life?”

Furthermore, 10 Tampa Bay reports that there was a shooting at a Tampa Holiday Inn around 4:40 a.m. on Sunday (June 23). The incident left one person dead and three hospitalized. As of this morning, the outlet reported that the incident happened in the parking lot. Public Information Officer for Tampa Police Jonee Lewis told the media that two cars were targeted upon entering the hotel parking lot, leaving a total of four people shot. The one person confirmed deceased was Julio Foolio and the other three victims are expected to survive.

News4Jax also reported that Julio Foolio’s attorney, Lewis Fusco , confirmed the rapper’s death in Tampa. He told the outlet that after the rapper and friends moved from the Airbnb they decided to book a hotel room, where he was “basically ambushed.” It’s also reported that the rapper was shot twice in Jacksonville within the last three years.
