TAMPA, Fla. ( WFLA ) — A man wanted in the murder of rapper Julio Foolio was arrested early Tuesday morning in an overnight SWAT standoff.

Rashad Murphy, 30, was taken into custody at around midnight after an hours-long standoff that forced the evacuation of an apartment building on the city’s west side.

“After hours of negotiators attempting to talk Murphy out, with assistance from patrol and the UAS Unit, SWAT operators used tactics to force the man out,” the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post.

Murphy, along with the three other suspects accused of planning and killing the rapper in Tampa, are awaiting transport to Hillsborough County. A fifth suspect, Davion Murphy, 27, is still on the run.

Murphy is charged with premeditated first degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder and attempted murder.

In a news conference Monday, Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw said the suspects are members of gangs that rivaled the one Julio Foolio was affiliated with. The rapper, whose real name is Charles Jones, was gunned down at a Holiday Inn on Fowler Avenue on June 23.

Police believe Jones was trying to get a room at the hotel after he was kicked out of an Airbnb while celebrating his 26th birthday.

Three others were wounded in the shooting, but they survived their injuries.
