"Keep the Family and Community in Your Prayers" Woman, 18, dies after being struck by boat propeller, in Long Beach Island boating accident.

LONG BEACH ISLAND, NJ: In a tragic accident, over the weekend, an 18-year-old woman, a recent graduate of Wayne Hills High School, in Wayne, NJ, died after being struck by the propeller of a boat off Harvey Cedars, on Long Beach Island.

According to the NJ State Police, on Sunday at about 4:30 p.m., state troopers responded to what Harvey Cedars police are calling a "tragic boating accident" in the waters off Sunset Park in Harvey Cedars.

Based on the initial investigation, Zeina Mahafzah, 18, was on a raft being pulled by a boat. While attempting to board the boat, she was struck by its propeller, and she sustained fatal injuries, according to NJ State Police.

The incident is under investigation by the New Jersey State Police and the Harvey Cedars Police Department, who posted Sunday on Facebook : "As the investigation is in its preliminary stages, we ask that you keep the family and community in your thoughts and prayers." Mahafzah was set to begin her freshman year of college at Rutgers State University.
