    Terre Haute man dead after an altercation in Edgar County

    Kansas, Ill. (WTWO) – A Terre Haute man is dead after an altercation in Kansas, Illinois on Friday.

    In Edgar County, Illinois State Police were dispatched at around 3:30 p.m. to a shooting on the 300 block of Cook Drive in Kansas.

    According to the Champaign County Coroner’s Office, Xavier T. Harris, 34 of Terre Haute sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound during the altercation. Harris was air lifted to Carle Foundation Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

    An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, July 1st. Illinois State Police and Champaign County Coroner’s Office will continue to investigate the altercation.
