TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The 76th annual Frontier Day Parade in Terre Haute took place despite heavy rain in the morning.

The original route was planned for Wabash Avenue, but rainy weather quickly changed the venue to the Vigo County Fairgrounds. Dozens of people showed up to see the horses up close.

Wabash Valley Hosemen’s Association member Christy Kane says it has become a family tradition for generations.

“It’s just a tradition as we’re young, like my grandson here Matthew,” Kane said. “I started out when I was 11 years old and it’s just a yearly thing and our families all get together and we all have this common bond with the horses and we get to share it.”

Kane also added that everyone acted quickly on the backup plan and it worked perfectly.
