BATTLE CREEK - Lakeview held a special spring signing day on Tuesday, highlighting the future destinations for some of the student-athletes at the school.

Eight Spartan seniors took advantage of the opportunity to have their family, friends and coaches there to celebrate their decision to compete at the next level, including Faith Hewkin, Jaeonna Shelton, Diora Gibson, Andrew Ignatovich, Keegan Hutchinson, Isaac Greene, Jake Kucharczyk and Zach Kucharczyk.

The most decorated of the group were twin brothers Jake and Zach Kucharczyk, who are in the top 10 in several single season categories all-time for the Lakeview baseball program, as both have earned all-state status. The duo committed to play at the next level for the Kellogg Community College baseball program.

Faith Hewkin is a four-year varsity member of the Lakeview softball team and all-league pick as well as an All-City selection and committed to play college softball at Calvin College - a Division III program in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association.

Andrew Ignatovich was a four-year member of the Lakeview soccer team, earning all-league as well as All-Enquirer honors. Ignatovich will play soccer at Manchester University - a Division III school in Indiana.

Keegan Hutchinson, a member of the Spartans state quarterfinal baseball team a year ago, has committed to play baseball at Madonna University - an NAIA school in Livonia.

Jaeonna Shelton and Diora Gibson, both members of the Lakeview competitive cheerleading program, have committed to join the Olivet University cheerleading team at the next level.

Isaac Greene, a four-year member of the Lakeview cross country team, will compete in that sport at the next level at Kellogg Community College.
