PFA firefighters find one person dead in home fire Friday

At 5:50 a.m. Friday morning, Poudre Fire Authority arrived on the scene of a house in the 4200 block of Gemstone Lane responding to a fire alarm.

Firefighters saw smoke and flames, and when they entered the home to perform a search, they found a deceased person. The identity will be released by the Larimer County Coroner’s Office at a later time.

Poudre Fire Authority investigators and Fort Collins Police Services detectives are working to investigate the cause of the fire.

“A tragedy like this is often felt throughout the community. The work to confirm the details of the cause of the fire is underway and we are dedicated to that to help the friends and family of the deceased and our community with closure and understanding. Our thoughts are with all those affected,” said Fire Chief Derek Bergsten in a news release .
