A man accused of drug trafficking has pleaded guilty in Lincoln County Circuit Court, and has been sentenced to serve 20 years in prison as a habitual offender.

On Monday, July 29, Jerry Lamar Garner pleaded guilty to five counts of drug and firearm possession and one count of conspiracy. The counts were:

    • Possession of at least 10 but less than 30 dosage units of methamphetamine

    • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

    • Possession of at least 1/10 but less than 2 grams of fentanyl

    • Possession of at least 2 but less than 10 grams of methamphetamine

    • Conspiracy to possess methamphetamine

    • Possession of more than 30 dosage units of methamphetamine

Each count was enhanced due to Garner’s status as a habitual offender.

Upon the District Attorney office’s recommendation, Judge David Strong sentenced Garner to a total of 36 years in prison, with 16 suspended, to serve 20 years day-for-day.

“Our office continues to work with our law enforcement partners to stop drug trafficking in our district,” said DA Brendon Adams. “The amount of fentanyl in Garner’s possession was roughly enough to kill 695 people. We will not tolerate this poison in our district.”

This case was prosecuted by Assistant DAs Steven Waldrup and Joey Norton.
