Scottie Scheffler is closing in winning his first FedEx Cup where he'll take home the biggest payday of his career with $25 million - but is keeping his head on his shoulders as he heads into the final day.

Scheffler has been dominant throughout the 2024 season , winning six times on tour leading him to lead the PGA Tour in points and granting him a two-shot advantage heading into the weekend.

As the big favorite, Scheffler just had to play sensibly on a course that the stars were expected to impress on - with the top-10 all at least 11-under-par. Scheffler, however, stands alone atop of the scorecard with a five-shot lead over Colin Morikawa, sitting at 26-under-par.

The PGA Tour comes down to one final event in the Tour Championship being played this weekend at at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta - with the best players in the game competing for the FedEx Cup. The 30 top-ranked players on tour made it into the tournament, with the higher seeds being given a head start, as Scheffler begun his round on 10-under-par.

But the American has continued to outplay all of his rivals through the last three days, and now looks set to take home the whopping prize on Sunday.

Scheffler looks to be staying level-headed going into the final day as he closes in on the FedEx Cup. He told reporters: "I feel like I've done a lot of stuff well and played solid, so I'm looking forward to the challenge of trying to finish off the tournament tomorrow."

Morikawa looks to be the only man who can catch Scheffler at this point, being five shots behind him while Sahith Theegala remains four shots behind second place.

The American has also put in an incredible showing through the past three days, but knows he must put in his best round if he's to challenge the world number one.

He told reporters: "Not exactly the moving day that I needed, but I knew this entire week I was going to need something special to come out on top and I'm going to need something very special. But I believe in myself, and hopefully that comes out tomorrow."

This year's tournament will have the biggest payouts by far than any other tournament on the calendar - while making a $7 million jump from last year's grand prize - taking home $25 million for first place.
