According to the National Weather Service, showers and thunderstorms will occur through Friday morning and into the afternoon hours.

A Flood Watch is posted through 7 p.m.

There are good chances for a break from the rainfall Friday night through Saturday.

Scattered thunderstorms again on Sunday. Rainfall amounts Sunday are uncertain.

    School update:

All Bob Hope School campuses in Beaumont and Port Arthur will be closed Friday due to inclement weather and power issues.

“We ask parents to continue to monitor our website or Facebook pages for any additional information,” a school statement read.

In the PNGISD, after receiving an update from Entergy, Groves Middle School students will not have school Friday. Groves Middle School staff should still report to work Friday for a teacher workday. All other PNGISD facilities are up and running and will operate as normal Friday, school officials said. Due to the inclement weather, Lamar State College Port Arthur is delaying the start of classes until 10 a.m. Friday at its Port Arthur campus. LSCPA employees should report to work at 10 a.m.
