Wake Forest Police identify homicide victim

The Wake Forest Police Department has identified the victim in a fatal shooting last weekend as Tyler Ray Wood, 29.

Just before 3 a.m. Aug. 17, Wake Forest Police responded to a reported shooting along the 1000 block of East Wait Avenue.

Upon their arrival, officers located one person suffering from a gunshot wound. The individual was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Police reported shortly after 6 p.m. Monday that the gunshot victim from the East Wait Avenue shooting had died from his injuries and that the incident was now being investigated as a homicide.

A suspect has not been taken into custody.

This is an ongoing investigation.
