Paul Finebaum Reveals He's 'Worried' About Massive College Football Program

The Alabama Crimson Tide has been the dominant force in college football for almost 20 years, winning six national championships during that time. However, its legendary head coach, Nick Saban, is no longer walking through those doors.

The job has been given to former Washington Huskies head coach Kalen DeBoer. DeBoer joins Alabama after leading the Huskies to the national championship game. While most first-year coaches at a new school get some leeway, the standard is different at Alabama due to the high expectations set by Saban.

SEC Network's Paul Finebaum told Berry Tramel of the Tulsa World that he's unsure about how well Alabama will perform this year due to the departure of several players from the Crimson Tide this offseason.

"I'm a little hesitant," Finebaum said. "I think DeBoer has done a fantastic job of moving past the Saban era. But I worry a little bit about all of the players that have left that program and who has taken their place."

Finebaum acknowledged that quarterback Jalen Milroe finished No. 6 in the Heisman last season, but he questions how much trust can be placed in him. He mentioned that tough games against teams like Georgia and Oklahoma will determine the success of the Crimson Tide's season.

Nevertheless, he feels that Alabama will be on the verge of making it to the College Football Playoff by the end of the year. Even though that would be a great season, it will be tough for them to match the high standard that Alabama has maintained for nearly 20 years.
