SMU is set to hear decisions from three top recruiting targets on Monday, the day the university enters the ACC. What’s the latest buzz on multiple four-stars and top targets? Here are some tidbits…

*** Leading off with a pair of tidbits on prospects not set to make decisions on July 1, SMU is in good shape for four-star offensive tackle Dramodd Odoms , per multiple sources. Odoms took in visits to Purdue and Mississippi State, but canceled an Ole Miss official visit. The Houston (Tex.) Lamar standout wants a decision in July and while he doesn’t have a timetable to commit, we like where the Mustangs stand here. According to the On3 Industry Ranking , a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, he’s the No. 110 overall prospect in the country and No. 10 offensive tackle in America.

*** 2025 Kahuku (Haw.) Farrington offensive lineman Abel Hoopii is set to announce his decision on July 8 at 6:30 p.m. CT. He’s down to Hawaii, San Jose State, SMU and UTSA, but we still like our On3 RPM for the Mustangs to win this battle. The 6-5, 330-pounder is a big offensive line target for Garin Justice and he’s hoping to round out his haul with Hoopii and Odoms. Hoopii took an official visit back in May to check out Dallas and since then, the program’s carried the momentum.

*** 3-star LB Kaleb Burns : Back in the state of Texas, Burns will pick from Baylor, SMU and Texas Tech. Burns ranks on On3 as the No. 34 overall linebacker in America, on the cusp of four-star status. The Mustangs are believed to be locked in a battle with Texas Tech down the stretch. The On3 RPM picks rolled in right after his official visit back in May, but the Red Raiders got him on campus recently. Heading into decision day, we’re hearing differing things on this one. One staff will be disappointed as this is a tossup heading into his commitment.

*** 4-star EDGE Chinedu Onyeagoro : SMU made a big move with its official visit earlier this month for the Los Angeles prospect. The 6-4, 215-pound prospect had programs like Arizona State, Northwestern, Washington and others after him, but SMU staff appears to have grabbed all the momentum. We’re expecting good news from the four-star prospect on Monday after he canceled his Washington official visit. Onyeagoro notched 103 tackles and 21 sacks as a junior.

*** 3-star LB Mark Iheanachor : Another California prospect the Mustangs are trending for is Iheanachor, who is down to SMU and Oklahoma. He’ll also announce a decision on Monday. The Harbor City (Calif.) Narbonne prospect canceled a Washington official visit. A true thumper in the middle, SMU linebackers coach Maurice Crum has the program positioned to land a nice recruiting win.
