The 2024 Little League World Series is underway with thrilling games on Friday and will culminate on Sunday, August 25, with the crowning of a new champion. This champion will be the one who has proven their mettle among the best young athletes, earning the prestigious LLWS trophy.

Day 3 of this year's Little League World Series (LLWS) wasn't as exciting as prior days with top-notch pitching taking center stage. Three of the four games were shutouts: Venezuela won 10-0 over Mexico, Hawaii beat Illinois 5-0, and Chinese Taipei won 11-0 over Australia.

The lone non-shutout was still a convincing win with Florida taking a 6-1 win over Washington. Here are some of the highlights from Friday's action in Pennsylvania:

Hawaii earns shutout win over Illinois

Tavares' strong performance from the mound powered a 5-0 victory over Illinois. Hawaii becomes the first United States team to win two games following their victory over New England on Wednesday.

    Illinois shut out again

Tavares is still dealing from the mound as Hawaii leads 4-0 through the fourth inning.

Tavares pushes Hawaii's lead to 4-0

The starting pitcher can get it done at the plate, too. His hit scored two runners to give Hawaii a 4-0 lead.

    Venezuela wins 10-0 over Mexico

Three batters were quickly retired as Venezuela sealed a 10-0 win over Mexico. They've now won eight consecutive games dating back to the start of their regional run.

Pressure is on for Mexico in the fourth

Mexico notched a third out before Venezuela could score again. But now they have to score at least one run in the bottom of the fourth to keep from a mercy rule loss.

    Venezuela makes it 10-0

A double play notched two outs but Venezuela's Santiago Bello still scored to make it 10-0 and make the mercy rule possible. Venezuela has a runner on third and, if he scores, the pressure is on Mexico to close the margin in order to keep the game going.

Mexico still scoreless entering the fourth inning

After three innings, Mexico is yet to get on the board. If Venezuela scores one run and Mexico remains scoreless in the fourth, the Little League World Series 10-run mercy rule mandates Mexico must concede the game.

Venezuela pouring it on in the third

Multiple pitching changes haven't made a difference for Mexico in the third inning as Veneuzela's extended the lead to 9-0.

Venezuela extends the lead in third inning
