VICKSBURG, Miss. ( WJTV ) – Graduating senior Shacaria London’s freshman year was different than she anticipated. The COVID-19 pandemic shaped her high school experience like many others.

“I didn’t get the high school experience that a regular freshman would,” said London. She didn’t let that deter her. London is going on to receive a full-ride scholarship to Ole Miss.

London has many people to thank. Her career coach, Ms. Monica Watson, is one of them. “Like her not talking for us. We talking for ourselves, it helped me a lot,” said London.

“She’s a beast,” Watson said.

Watson plans to major in sonography. The student ambassador and class representative said she is proud to be one of the first group of interns at Vicksburg High School.

“I give 100% every day,” she said. She leaves this message for the young ladies and men. “Always remember it’s your future, not anyone else’s,” said London.

London said she is excited to start this new chapter at Ole Miss.

Watson said, “She’s going to be one of my success stories.”
