    Vicksburg kicks off bicentennial celebrations

    VICKSBURG, Miss. ( WJTV ) – The City of Vicksburg kicked off their bicentennial celebrations with an opening ceremony at Washington Street Park on Monday, July 29.

    The celebrations will highlight the past, present and future of the River City.

    MDAH returns 95 Native American remains to Chickasaw Nation

    The city’s incorporation anniversary is on January 29, 2025. Afterwards, the city will host a Music and Culture Festival in April, an Independence Day Weekend Celebration, a Family Fair, and a New Year’s Eve celebration.

    “It is a group effort. And what we did is came together as a committee. We met once a month, and we organized. We had a director and everything. So, we are on our way. I think you going to be looking at a great celebration,” said Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs, Jr.
