The Commanders releasing Brandon McManus on Sunday evening is going to be the big news of the week in DC sports, and the Junkies, after discussing their weekends, opened Monday’s show proper with a look at the situation.

“We actually had the lawyer for the two flight attendants join us, Tony Buzbee, and kind of knew something would probably happen, like they would at least add a kicker to the depth chart,” JP Flaim said. “Well, I think right now they don't have any kickers on the roster because they said bye-bye, Brandon McManus.”

“When you play the most expendable position in the NFL, which I believe kicker is for the most part, and you're accused of sexual assault, the team's gonna cut ties with you,” Cakes, just back from a week off, replied. “This is a new era of Washington football. They don't want distractions or media circus. That's the last thing that Josh Harris and the owners want. They’ll get another kicker.”

“They don't care if he did it or if he didn't do it, the fact that he was accused, they just want to distance themselves,” Bish said. “They're not gonna let it play out in court. It's crazy because when we had Tony Buzbee on, he was very good at convincing us that his clients were telling the truth. And then you hear Brent Galloway, I think, is McManus’ lawyer, and you hear his statement and you kind of think the opposite because they're very good at trying to convince you that their client is correct. So it'll be interesting to see what comes out.”

And finally, EB with the tough dichotomy of the situation:

It's too bad, and it's a weird thing to say, but I hope that the allegations are true, because you don’t want somebody to lose his job if they are fake allegations,” he said. “But, you don't want the allegations to be true because you don't want anybody to be sexually assaulted. Still, this is not a surprise.”

Talk then turned to whether or not this is a black mark on Adam Peters’ resume, assuming he knew anything, and Cakes' feelings on the importance of a kicker versus everyone else's feelings – and you can listen to the entire discussion above.
