    Metro reports highest Fourth of July ridership since 2015

    WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — Metro said that those in the DMV celebrated Independence Day “in a big way.”

    Officials reported that it was the biggest Fourth of July for Metrorail since 2015, reporting more than 440,000 trips on Thursday.

    Metro said there were 66,000 trips at the Smithsonian Metro Station and also reported the highest ridership day ever at Herndon and Innovation Center.

    Wilson Aquatic Center in DC reopening

    Trains and buses across the DMV celebrated the Fourth along with its riders with a special design. Metro also offered fare-free rides in the evening.
