Washington legends Joe Gibbs and Darrell Green visit Commanders camp

The Washington Commanders have had several name changes over the years including the Braves, Redskins, and the Football Team, but it is important to realize what a great history the franchise has.  Fans may not feel that ownership was attentive to this in recent years, but the new ownership team led by Josh Harris is changing that narrative.

NFL Hall of Famers, Coach Joe Gibbs, 83, and Darrell Green, 64, recently visited the Commanders' training camp.  Both had plenty of words of encouragement for the team.  Gibbs called the fans among the best in the world and seemed hopeful the current Commanders team and ownership would win them back. Green , who is finally getting his jersey retired in 2024, told the team that all of the past players are behind them and wish them success.

Washington has three Super Bowl Championships under Gibbs' leadership, in 1982, 1987, and 1991. Green was a member of the latter two Super Bowl teams.

The Commanders have a young team led by rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels and a new coaching staff that is eager to make a splash this season in the NFC East, a division they have only won four times in the past 25 years.
