Ogden’s annual arts grants, which the city council approved on Aug. 6, have new conditions on how the funding can be used this year. Recipients were informed of a new rule against “political advertising, lobbying, campaigning, or editorials” – or “anything that would be considered objectionable, offensive, obscene, or inappropriate for the general public.”
West Davis Corridor extension plans move ahead; Syracuse eyes development along roadway
SYRACUSE — Plans to extend the first section of the West Davis Corridor move forward, with work on the next section from West Point to Clinton set to begin next year. Meanwhile, officials in Syracuse, mindful of development potential spurred by traffic brought by the major new roadway, seek creation of a redevelopment area on a 169-acre expanse adjacent to the north-south corridor for housing, retail and commercial development.
Weber Human Services asks cities to help fund their senior centers or lose them
Senior centers in Weber County are experiencing a funding issue that could lead to some closures after the current fiscal year. Weber Human Services funds five centers that are open five days a week in Ogden, Roy, Washington Terrace, Riverdale and North Ogden. If these cities can’t come to an agreement with the agency, one or two of them may be shut down.
