WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — The Waterbury Police
Department said they believe speed is a factor in a two-car crash that left
four people dead late Friday night.

According to the preliminary police investigation, two cars were traveling
at a “high rate of speed,” one going northbound and the other southbound near 690
Thomaston Ave. around 11 p.m. That’s when, according to police, the two cars
    collided head-on.

The crash caused both cars to erupt in flames, according to Police Chief
    Fernando Spagnolo.

One vehicle had three occupants, while the other had one. Spagnolo said all
four people involved in the crash were adults and died at the scene.

Police have not yet released the names of those killed.

The investigation into the crash remains active. Stay with News 8 for
