Waukee CSD Alum Drafted to MLB
Jackson Wentworth, a 2021 graduate of Waukee High School, has been selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2024 Major Baseball League (MLB) draft. While in high school, Jackson won 17 games as a starting pitcher, helped lead the Warriors to two state tournaments, and was ranked as the No. 2 right-handed pitcher in the state by Perfect Game. Jackson was named first team all-state his senior year and holds the school record in strikeouts with 216.
ADM Softball Starts State Tourney Today Against Fort Dodge
The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball team gears up for their first postseason game of the 2024 season today in Fort Dodge. The Tigers will be battling versus the host school of the Fort Dodge Dodgers this afternoon at 5:15pm. This will be the sixth meeting between these teams as the Dodgers has taken all five previously. Last year, ADM fell 8-3 to Fort Dodge in the Class 4A Quarterfinal game. Before that, the Tigers took on the Dodgers in 2021, 2020, then two games in 2012.

State softball preview: 5 CIML schools begin quest for Class 5A title on Monday
The state softball tournament gets under way on Monday with the Class 5A quarterfinals at Harlan Rogers Park. The Class 5A field includes the top four teams in the final rankings, but a rash of upsets in regional play also saw three teams ranked ninth or lower make it to Fort Dodge along with unranked Cedar Rapids Prairie.

There were several standout pitching, hitting and fielding performances during the regional finals in softball and substate finals in baseball. DCG Softball to Play in 4A Quarterfinals
Dallas Center – Grimes softball will be looking to begin an exciting week of softball today when they compete in the 4A state tournament in Fort Dodge. This 4A quarterfinal will find the two seed Mustangs against the seven seed Carlisle Wildcats. DCG is 32-8 on the season while Carlisle is 34-8.
ADM Baseball Spotlight: Reed Ausdemore
Today for the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn, Raccoon Valley Radio will focus on Junior Reed Ausdemore. Ausdemore was one of the consistent pitchers for the Tigers this season. He started seven games on the mound finishing with a 2-4 record, had 38 strikeouts, walked 14 batters in 39.2 innings pitched. Offensively for ADM, Ausdemore played in 31 games with 101 at-bats, scored 14 runs off of 25 hits, got 20 singles, five doubles, and 10 RBIs.

Ankeny Native will Represent the Country
Blake Bolden, the Director of the Drake Relays, talked about Ankeny Native, Justin Phongsavanh (fong-sa-von) throwing Javelin at the Drake Relays this April. It was special because it was the first time Phongsavanh threw at a competition in the state of Iowa. Phongsavanh was shot in 2015 and has been paralyzed in his legs since.
