BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WBOY) — The Bridgeport Lion’s Club hosted its second annual Golf Ball Drop on Saturday to raise funds for causes including diabetes, pediatric cancer awareness and natural disaster relief.

At the event participants could buy a numbered golf ball for $10 or three golf balls for $25. Then at the Bridge Sports Complex , the Bridgeport Fire Department used a ladder truck to lift the golf balls up and let them fall to the ground. Whoever purchased the numbered golf ball closest to a hole the Lion’s Club put in the ground won a prize of one thousand dollars.

600 golf balls were purchased in total, raising around $3,000 according to the Lion’s Club.
