West Virginia man arrested after allegedly robbing multiple employees at businesses at gunpoint

Police say a West Virginia man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly robbing multiple employees at their businesses at gunpoint.

Weirton Police say they were dispatched to Sleep Center in reference to a male attempting to rob an employee at gunpoint in the parking lot.

Police say the male was trying to steal the employee’s vehicle but was unsuccessful. Officers say they were informed the same male subject went to Nana’s Lunch Box and stole an employee’s vehicle at gunpoint.

Weirton PD said the stolen car was located in the parking lot of Weirton Medical Center when a pursuit started.

Officials say the vehicle traveled to Woodbridge Apartments, located on Old Colliers Way, drove into the woods and struck a tree.

The suspect then ran into the woods, according to police.

Later, officers were alerted that the same male was attempting to steal an occupied vehicle at Foot and Ankle Care.

Officers say they were in the area and stopped the subject before he could leave his vehicle.

Police identified Robert Bailey, age 42 from Wellsburg, as the subject.

During the investigation police say Bailey also broke into Family Connections and stole items from the business.

Bailey has been charged with two counts of Robbery, one count of Attempted Robbery, and one count of Breaking and Entering

Police say no one was physically injured during the incidents.

Bailey is in the the Northern Regional Jail awaiting arraignment through Brooke County Magistrate Court.

The Weirton Police Department was assisted by the Brooke County Sheriff’s Department and the West Virginia State Police.
