    Weirton Christian Center wraps up “Keepin Up” Summer Reading Program

    HANCOCK COUNTY, W.Va. ( WTRF ) – Weirton Christian Center (WCC) wrapped up there Summer Reading Program this week.

    WCC’s Executive Director, Kim Weaver, tells 7News the Kiwanis Club of Weirton funded their “Keepin Up” Summer Reading Program this year.

    “The donation has provided four teachers to come and work with our children to increase their skills – and has even provided for books and rewards for our reading contest. We are so thankful for our friends at Weirton Kiwanis Club!”

    She says WCC would not be able to provide these fun rewards or run the summer reading program without the generosity of their supporters.

    On Wednesday, participants in WCC’s “Keepin Up” Summer Reading Program got to visit Prime Bookstore to get ice cream and pick out a book, which was made possible in part through the Dollar General Literacy Grant the center was awarded in May .
