According to Borer, she met with Collins after learning about an incident that took place in June involving him and Romney Desronvil, who allegedly tried to drown his two young children last month.

Borer’s statement read: “Upon learning of this incident, I met with Commissioner Collins and he has tendered his resignation. I believe this is the best course of action in order for the Department and City to continue to move forward.”

Borer told News 8 that Collins was wrongfully allowed into the West Haven Police Department’s lockup area to berate Desronvil following his arrest.

No additional information is known at this time.
