Ryan homes development recommended for Seneca
A planned 122-home development is recommended to be annexed to Seneca, in a vote last night by the city planning commission. For zoning purposes, the planning commissioners also approved Kenneth Jeffcoat’s request that the property between Wells Highway and the new middle school be designated Planned Development-Residential. The city council will have final say in two meetings starting next month. Currently, sitting in unincorporated area, the property is considered control-free. Jeffcoat told the commission Ryan Homes will develop the subdivision in much the same manner as it developed nearby Wells Station. The vote for annex was unanimous, but the vote for PD-R was 5 to 1, with Commissioner John Gillespie voting no. Chairman Barry Duvall is bothered by the density – the closeness of one house to another – and suggested an R-20 zone might be a better alternative.

Clemson’s Dockside awarded during Texas meeting
Clemson’s large Dockside project of apartment living and commercial space received an innovator’s award during the Student Housing Business annual meeting in Austin, Texas. Dockside covers more than 22 thousand square feet of property abutting Lake Hartwell at the bridge into Oconee County. The Dockside partners –the builder, the architects, and the bankers – developed the project in a way to offer an upscale living experience alongside the lake, dock access to which is provided. The LLC Fountain Residential Partners is a privately-held Dallas company whose official Brent Little is behind plans to build apparently similar housing on the Oconee County side on 123 between Bojangles and the former Paws Restaurant.
