    ALEA: Athens man killed after crash in Limestone County

    LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — A man was killed in a crash that happened in Limestone County on Sunday.

    According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the crash took place along Alabama 53, four miles southeast of Ardmore around 4:45 p.m.

    Troopers tell News 19 that 44-year-old Brandon Cooley, of Athens, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup when his vehicle hit a 2012 Chrysler 200 head-on.

    According to ALEA, Cooley was not wearing a seatbelt during the time of the crash. He was also ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene.

    The driver of the Chrysler 200 was injured and airlifted to Huntsville Hospital for medical treatment.

    The crash remains under investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division.
