A spokesperson for at-Home stores confirmed the location in Sikes Senter will close but declined to comment on why.

The spokesperson at the corporate headquarters of the Dallas-based chain also declined to say whether any other locations would close or whether the recent sale of the local mall was a factor.

She said the store will close at a date to be determined in October.

The company has more than 250 locations in 40 states and specializes in home décor merchandise. It opened its Wichita Falls location in 2016, following the closure of the Sears store in the location the prior year.

The at Home store follows JC Penney in announcing the closure of their Sikes Senter locations. Dillard’s department store pulled out in May 2022.

Barring the addition of a major retailer soon, Sikes Senter will be without any major anchor stores for the first time in its history.

Kohan Retail Investment Group of New York, a buyer of distressed malls, sold Sikes Senter to Summit Properties USA in July.

Summit, also of New York, says on its website it owns 28 regional malls.
