Authorities Investigating Break-In at Nishna Valley Cycle in Atlantic
(Atlantic) The Atlantic Police Department is investigating a break-in at Nishna Valley Cycle in Atlantic. At approximately 3:34 AM this (Monday) morning, the Cass County Communications Center received a call from a security company of door and motion alarms at Nishna Valley Cycle in Atlantic. Officers with the Atlantic Police Department arrived on scene by 3:35 AM and found that there was damage caused to the front of the building and there appeared to be missing inventory. A preliminary review of on-site cameras show a U-haul type vehicle back into the east side doors causing them to break. Three individuals enter the building and load six dirt bikes into the back of the vehicle. The vehicle then leaves the parking lot.
Atlantic Police Arrest Man for Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury
(Atlantic) A man has been charged with Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury following an incident in Atlantic Monday evening. The Atlantic Police Department says at approximately 5:57PM, the Cass County Communications center received a report of an assault at 1600 Bryn Mawr Blvd in Atlantic. This initial report stated that a male subject had been stabbed at the residence. Upon arrival, officers with the Atlantic Police Department determined that the victim had not been stabbed, but had been assaulted and struck using items in the home causing lacerations and bleeding. As a result of this investigation, Michael Brownsberger has been charged with Willful injury Causing Serious Injury (Class C Felony.) Michael was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Cass County Jail, where he was booked and held.

Adair Man Arrested for Alleged Felony Domestic Violence
An Adair man was arrested on July 10th for an alleged domestic abuse incident. According to court documents, an Adair County Deputy was dispatched to a residence on Stuart Street in Adair for a report of domestic assault. After arriving on scene, the deputy made contact with the victim, who told him that the suspect, 39 year old Luke Hommes, had sprayed them with a fire extinguisher, then struck the victim with the extinguisher. Physical wounds and other evidence from the scene fit the victim’s account of the incident. Hommes left the scene before law enforcement arrived and he was not available for immediate questioning.
Western Iowa Man Arrested in Adair on Alleged Theft Charges Last Week
On July 8th a Griswold man was arrested in Adair and accused of theft. According to court documents, an Adair County Deputy had been advised by a Cass County Deputy that the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office was looking for a gray Chevrolet Silverado pulling a white trailer that was allegedly stolen out of Pottawatomie County. The Adair County Deputy observed a vehicle matching the description at the Casey’s General Store in Stuart, but after searching the plates found it was not reported stolen, but licensed to a Guthrie County resident. The deputy followed the vehicle to the Chuckwagon Restaurant in Adair.
