- Just when it seems like Texas A&M has no shot to get in after a midseason loss at South Carolina - to go along with early losses to Florida and Arkansas - it does something crazy and stuns Texas in the regular season finale.

All of a sudden, the committee has some work to do. In the end, it says the win in the opener against Notre Dame, and in the finale against the Longhorns, are too good. The Aggies become the long 9-3 team to get in.

- The CFP committee invokes its own In Case of Emergency, Pick Alabama thing and respects the three losses. Two will be to Georgia - one in the SEC Championship - and losing at Tennessee won’t be a knock considering it’ll be a high-powered shootout class.

Bama’s five-game winning streak - before losing to the Dawgs in the SEC Championship - and an early season win at Wisconsin, will be enough to get a home game.
