    $500k proposed for Southwest Virginia drinking water projects

    COEBURN, Va. (WJHL) — The Coalfield Water Development Fund (CWDF) has proposed $572,000 worth of grant funds for safe drinking water projects in Southwest Virginia.

    The executive committee will recommend the following grant awards to the CWDF Board at its next meeting:

    Greeneville forfeits Tennessee High win due to ineligible player
    • Lee County PSA – $46,000
      • Project Name: “Stickleyville Waterline Extension Project – Middle Wallen Creek Phase I”
    • City of Norton – $75,000
      • Project Name: “Southside Neighborhood Comprehensive Improvement Project – Phase II”
    • Woodway Water Authority – $15,000
      • Project Name: “Jonesville Water Storage Tank – Security Fence”
    • Wise County PSA – $75,000
      • Project Name: “Pound Water Treatment Plant Finished Water Pumps Improvements”
    • Scott County PSA – $75,000
      • “Robinette Valley Water Project (Phase 2A)”
    • Dickenson County PSA -$143,745
      • “Backbone Ridge Phase IV/Low Gap-Phase II/Turkey Branch Waterline Replacement”
    • Town of Tazewell – $92,255
      • “460 Waterline Replacement”
    • Russell County PSA – $50,000
      • “Tiller Trailer Park Waterline Extension”

    Those interested in commenting on the proposed awards can send written comments to the CWDF (P. O. Box 2194, Coeburn) by Oct 16.
