According to a press release from the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department, units, including the Hazmat 15, responded to Interstate 65 northbound near Dauphin Street around 6:46 a.m. on Friday.

Units said they arrived and found a flatbed 18-wheeler that was carrying a load of sod was leaking fuel. The release said the fuel came from the truck’s “150-gallon fuel tanks and its smaller 25-gallon diesel exhaust fluid tank.”

Authorities said crews used putty to slow the leak, and Hazmat units worked to catch the remaining fuel dripping. The release said MFRD remained on the scene, waiting for the city environmental and ALDOT to respond.
