Beat Brackett 5k Run/Walk - July 4, 2024 from 6-11am. The Edmonds July 4th – Beat Brackett 5K Run/Walk will again route through Woodway. Same as last year, roads will be closed to through traffic from 7:45am to 10:00am. Woodway residents will be allowed through, but are encouraged to avoid the area if possible.
Officials cut ribbon for new Edmonds College fuselage lab
U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen and several local and state elected officials participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday for the grand opening of Edmonds College’s new fuselage lab, located at the Washington Aerospace Training & Research (WATR) Center at Paine Field. This state-of-the-art facility will provide students with hands-on training using a Boeing 767 Tanker fuselage.

Local gardeners celebrate progress of Scriber Creek restoration
Several volunteers from the Scriber Creek restoration project and members of the Edmonds Floretum Garden Club, Lynnwood’s Alderwood Garden Club and Woodinville’s Cottage Gardeners Garden Club gathered in the rain Thursday to witness the fruits of their efforts in planting native plants along Scriber Creek. Since Nov. 4, many of the native seedlings have sprouted to become saplings over a fresh layer of mulch. However, there are still many invasive reed canary grass and English ivy coating the creek bed.

Jul. 2—The Seattle Fire Department is adding a new tool to its water rescue arsenal: two customized Sea-Doos. The Jet Ski-like personal watercraft were donated to the department by the Seattle Fire Foundation as part of the department’s new rescue watercraft program.
