Bureau of Land Management issues fire restrictions for Northwest Oregon district
Fire restrictions are in effect for all Bureau of Land Management public lands throughout the Northwest Oregon District. BLM leaders encourage all visitors to be aware of active restrictions and closures as warmer, drier weather sets in around the Pacific Northwest. These fire restrictions help reduce the risk of human-caused fires. The BLM Oregon/Washington statewide Fire Restrictions went into effect May 24th, prohibiting fireworks, exploding targets or metallic targets, steel component ammunition (core or jacket), tracer or incendiary devices, and sky lanterns. ...

Telekinesis returns with Wimps, Oliver Elf Army
I had the good fortune to catch Telekinesis’ Michael Lerner last month at a small art opening in a secluded barn up in Bow, a tiny hamlet off of Chuckanut Drive in Skagit County. It was a brief, subdued set; Lerner played guitar and supplemented a couple of songs with some beats piped in from his laptop. It was good to see and hear from him again, but it really whetted my appetite for the full-band Telekinesis experience: Lerner front and center on his drum kit backed by musicians just as lit up and exuberant as they can be, the Telekinesis I first experienced at Timbrrr! 2014 and again at SASQUATCH! in 2016. According to Lerner, the band now features Jes le Bon of Sleepy Genes on guitar and Kelly Sorbel of Kurly Something on bass. Lerner has had a rotating cast of members in his band over the years, so it will be interesting to experience this new lineup.
Hops Weekly: Hillsboro takes two-of-three games with Everett after All-Star Break
In the wake of a dismal series with last place Tri-City, the Hops turned things around post-All-Star Break, taking two-of-three games on the road in Everett. Hillsboro won the first two games on Friday and Saturday, then lost a heartbreaking extra-inning affair with the home AquaSox on Sunday afternoon before heading back to Hillsboro to prep for their upcoming home series with second place Vancouver. The Hops were solid both...

Gator on the loose in Washington!
Quite the incident happened near the 9400 block of Ray Grade Rd. in Snohomish County over the weekend. Reports came in to the Snohomish County Sheriff's Department and Washington State Fish and Wildlife for a 10-foot-long ferocious man-eating gator! Was it really painted as a ferocious man-eating monster? Probably not, but I'd like to think so. This call came in for this 10-foot gator, and people were very freaked out. The Snohomish County Sheriff and Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife were aware of the sighting, and they made a post about it on social media. That post was shared hundreds of times. When sheriffs and wildlife officials arrived, they were shocked to see it wasn't a gator at all.

Mariners Game #102 Preview: 7/22/24, LAA @ SEA
After salvaging a win out of the Astros series (and yet again avoiding the sweep) the Mariners now host Anaheim for a three game set. The vibes around the park are certainly strange today, coming off the news that Ty France was placed on waivers following last night’s game. In addition to that, Jason Vosler has been called up from Tacoma and Ryan Bliss has been sent down. That clubhouse turnover has put a slight damper on the Mariners this afternoon, but Ty France at least seems to be making the most of it.
