WOONSOCKET – A 37-year-old city man is wanted on a warrant accusing him of felony assault on another man with intent to commit murder and other offenses, the police said Wednesday as they appealed to the public for information to help them track down the fugitive.

Andrew Michael Martin faces a slate of charges after he intentionally struck a 30-year-old man with a car on East School Street late Monday night, said Woonsocket Police Chief Thomas F. Oates III.

A felony assault, with a vehicle, related to an 'ongoing dispute'

Soon after that, witnesses and bystanders told police that the suspect intentionally hit the victim, according to comments that Oates made on Tuesday.

The suspect's motivation involved an "ongoing dispute over domestic relationships," police said Tuesday.

    The charges

On Wednesday, Oates said Martin faces charges of: assault to commit specified felonies (murder), felony assault and battery, driving to endanger resulting in serious bodily injury and driving with a suspended/revoked/canceled license.

The 30-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries and remained in critical condition on Wednesday.

Anyone who has information on Martin's whereabouts is asked to contact the Woonsocket police at (401) 766-1212.
