    West Virginia woman pleads guilty, sentenced to probation for animal cruelty

    PUTNAM COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — A woman pleaded guilty and was sentenced on animal cruelty charges on Monday afternoon, according to court documents.

    Lillian Simpson, 26, pleaded guilty to four counts of animal cruelty. She was accused of holding her dogs in her home under what authorities called “deplorable” conditions. One dog was reportedly found deceased on the bathroom floor of her home while seven others were described as malnourished.

    She was sentenced to 12 months of supervised probation, according to Kanawha County Magistrate Court. Simpson is also banned from owning animals for 20 years, five years for each count, court documents show.

    Simpson was arrested on a warrant issued in May , according to the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
