    Jonesboro officer fired for physically assaulting detainee

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Jonesboro police officer was terminated from the department after he was caught on video physically assaulting a detainee, the Jonesboro Police Department announced.

    On Friday, the Jonesboro Police Department Administration was informed of a complaint about an incident involving a JPD officer that occurred Thursday evening.

    The serious nature of the complaint necessitated “prompt action.”

    Jail employee fired, charged after alleged sexual assault of inmate

    Following an internal review of the incident, it was determined that the officer involved, Joseph Harris, should be terminated effective immediately.

    The JPD released the video of the incident in the “interest of transparency.”
