COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WRIC) — Thursday is opening night for the Tri-City Chili Peppers baseball team, with many fun, themed game nights scheduled for the season, including a glow-in-the-dark game.

The Tri-City Chili Peppers will kick-off its baseball season with a 7 p.m. game on Thursday, May 23 , at Shepherd Stadium in Colonial Heights, where the team will play head-to-head against the Greenville Yard Gnomes from North Carolina.

The Tri-City Chili Peppers is a summer baseball team made up of college students and is part of the Coastal Plain League.

“We’re very well known for not just baseball on the field, but also entertainment of our fans, so what fans can look forward to when they come out to the ballpark tonight is just a great family atmosphere,” said Chris Martin, owner and founder of the Tri-City Chili Peppers.

Martin also said fans can expect a live DJ, barbeque, a beer garden and fireworks this weekend during their Saturday, May 25 game at Shepherd Stadium.
