    Hazardous waste collection event to take place in Clearfield County

    CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Clearfield County Solid Waste Authority will be hosting a drive-thru household hazardous waste collection event for residents.

    The event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (5615 Park Street). Residents will be able to recycle various household waste, but you must pre-register for the event. You can register here or call 412-567-6566 to schedule an appointment.

    Here are items that will be accepted:

    • Televisions
    • Computers and laptops
    • Printers, copiers and scanners
    • Keyboards and mice
    • Speakers
    • Cell phones
    • Stereos/CD players
    • VCR/DVD players
    • Video game consoles
    • AC units and dehumidifiers
    • Gasoline, kerosene, diesel and motor oil
    • Antifreeze, insecticides, pesticides and weed killer
    • Oil based paints, latex paint, thinners and solvents
    • Degreasers
    • Pool chemicals
    • Oven cleaner, drain cleaner, toilet cleaner, tile cleaner and bleach
    • Aerosis, fluorescent lights and batteries

    Here’s what it costs to recycle those items (credit card payments only):

    • $0.55/lb. freon containing devices
    • $0.45/lb. non-video display electronics
    • $0.65/lb. televisions and monitors
    • $0.75/lb. waste paint & stains
    • $0.85/lb. universal wastes (bulbs, batteries etc.)
    • $1.10/lb. household hazardous waste
    • $15 each – propane cylinders (all sizes)

    Attendees are also being reminded to not bring the following items as they will not be accepted.

    • Smoke detectors and fire extinguishers
    • Ammunition and explosive materials
    • Compressed gas cylinders and tires
    • Pharmaceuticals, medical waste and syringes
    • Elemental mercury and mercury containing devices
    • PCB contaminated items
    • Containers over 5 gallons
