Stormy pattern to peak, showers & storms likely through Saturday

Tonight features scattered showers and storms, some of which could provide heavy rainfall. Temperatures will work their way down into the mid 60s. The best chance for rain and storms will be in our western counties, with drier conditions expected east. Patchy fog is possible, too.
Thursday continues the risk for a few scattered storms as our hot and humid airmass reigns supreme. With our upper level ridge nudging a little farther east out of Texas, we’ll be in a better placement for scattered showers and storms, and a strong one or two cannot be ruled out. The Storm Prediction Center has placed our area in a level one marginal risk for severe weather with damaging wind gusts the primary threat. The best chance for these storms once again will be in our western counties. We’ll see high temperatures jump up into the mid 80s. The rule of thumb Thursday is the more sunshine, the better chance for stronger storms later in the day. Again, storms could provide locally heavy rainfall.
Friday keeps the risk for scattered storms alive and well with a hot and humid airmass still in place. We’ll be watching a cold front approach the region from the west, which will cross during the weekend. Until that front crosses, our hot and humid airmass, along with our chances for storms will continue with highs in the mid to upper 80s. Storms will be capable of heavy rainfall.
Saturday features a little more cloud cover with our cold front crossing with scattered showers a good bet. The day looks overcast, so if you have outdoor plans, bring the rain gear! Showers and a few rumbles of storms will be most prevalent in the afternoon and could provide heavy rainfall once again. We’ll see high temperatures in the upper 70s.
Sunday provides an isolated shower chance in the morning, but by the afternoon, we’ll see clearing skies as high pressure works its way into the region. High temperatures will jump back up into the low 80s.
Monday will be dry with mostly sunny skies with high pressure in control. It’s a typical summertime day with high temperatures in the mid 80s. Humidity won’t be oppressive so at least that soupy feel will be gone for a bit.
Tuesday continues the dry weather with partly sunny skies and high temperatures in the mid to upper 80s.
Wednesday introduces the risk for scattered showers and storms once again with a cold front approaching. We’ll see a few storms in the afternoon with highs in the mid 80s.
Looking ahead in your extended forecast, we’ll keep temperatures at or slightly above average for this time of year. We should have highs around 80 for this time of year. Thursday and Friday provide a couple risks for isolated to widely scattered storms with highs in the low to mid 80s. Saturday has an isolated shower chance still but we’ll be drier with highs in the low 80s.
TONIGHT Scattered downpours, especially west. Patchy fog. Lows in the mid 60s. THURSDAY Scattered storms likely, plenty of dry time. Highs in the mid 80s. FRIDAY Scattered storms.
