America may have a reputation for having some unhealthy habits, but there are plenty of cities around the country that prove that people do care about their health. Depending on where you live , you may have a better chance of being healthier, whether it's more access to resources, better food and nutrition, public safety, or a greater opportunity for exercising.

According to a list compiled by 24/7 Tempo , the "most sedentary city" in Arizona is Yuma. The adult obesity rate for this southwestern city is 40.5%, compared to the state average of 31.5%. Additionally around 29.4% of adults don't exercise and 21.1% are in poor or fair health, compared to the state average of 21.6% and 14.5%, respectively.

This is how 24/7 Tempo determined its list:

"To identify the least physically active city or metropolitan area in each state, 24/7 Tempo reviewed data from the 2023 County Health Rankings & Roadmaps, a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute joint program. Cities and metros are ranked by the share of adults 20 or older who never exercise in their leisure time. Additional information on the share of adults who report a body mass index of 30 kg/m2 or higher — the standard for adult obesity according to the CDC and the National Institutes of Health — and the share of adults reporting poor or fair health, also came from the 2023 CHR."
