Former Cyclone Haliburton going for gold at 2024 Olympics

DES MOINES, Iowa — Former Iowa State basketball star Tyrese Haliburton will get the opportunity of a lifetime this weekend — playing on Team USA for a chance to bring home the gold at the 2024 Olympics.

Haliburton secured a spot on the 12-man roster in April and will be playing alongside stars like LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant.

In 2018, Haliburton began his college basketball career at Iowa State University and quickly became a star player. During his time at Iowa State he accomplished many things including:

• Two-time Big 12 Player of the Week
• Two-time Big 12 Freshman of the Week
• Set school assists record with 17 assists in one game
• Two-time ISU Scholar Athlete
• All-Big 12 Second Team honors

Haliburton declared for the 2020 NBA draft and was selected by the Sacramento Kings in the lottery. In early 2022 Haliburton was traded to the Indiana Pacers where he became a two-time NBA All-Star and helped lead the Pacers to an Eastern Conference Finals during his first two full years with the team.
