    Police officers help Long Island woman deliver baby boy in home

    AMITYVILLE, N.Y. (PIX11) – Two officers on Long Island helped a woman deliver a baby boy at home on Thursday, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

    Officers responded to a 911 call of a woman in labor at a home on The Boulevard in Amityville, police said. When they arrived, the woman was in the bathroom of the home.

    The two officers, Peter Verhey and Joshua Valderrama, were able to help 34-year-old Aylara Alleyene deliver a baby boy. Medics arrived at the scene shortly after, authorities said.

    The mother and baby were transported to a local hospital in good condition, police said.
