Good afternoon everyone. We are watching today's severe weather risk coming to fruition over a large stretch of Michigan, and is likely to impact big cities such as Detroit as the day wears on.

An organized line of strong to severe thunderstorms is racing through Michigan in an east/southeast fashion, and have had a history of winds in excess of 60mph & penny size hail. For this reason, the National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 9pm ET across parts of Michigan, including Detroit.

As these storms grow outward, take up more real estate, and move, we will likely see severe thunderstorm watches expand south and east. This include parts of northern Indiana, northern Ohio, northwest Pennsylvania, and western New York.

Look for the likelihood of damaging winds, large hail, frequent lightning, torrential rain, and the possibility for a few tornadoes. Please listen to your local agencies for the latest watches and warnings, and be prepared to take action in order to save property or life.
