Paul Finebaum is the host of 'The Paul Finebaum Show' and a noteworthy ESPN commentator with outspoken opinions on college football topics.

Finebaum has sparred with media in recent days over the fallout from Jim Harbaugh's four-year NCAA athletics ban, keeping the focus squarely on last season's national championship team.

Meanwhile, new coach Sherrone Moore's team is chomping at the bit to prove last year's national championship was not a fluke, and was ranked ninth in the 2024 AP Top 25 Poll.

On Monday, Finebaum revealed his thoughts on the Wolverines' lofty ranking.

"I'm not that fine with that," Finebaum said of Michigan's top ten ranking.

"I mean, to me, Michigan is a marginal playoff team. I think they're living off the past there. Jim Harbaugh is gone, and he's not coming back. In case you missed last week, I think they should have been a little lower."

Michigan ranks 17th out of 18 Big Ten teams in terms of number returning starters, one position ahead of their national title game opponent Washington.

The Wolverines return one starter on offense, four on defense and one on special teams.
