    Could Commanders Trade Jahan Dotson?

    By Wil Riggs,

Washington Commanders third-year receiver Jahan Dotson hasn’t quite shown the elite level of play that you would expect from the No. 16 overall pick.

In two seasons, the former Nittany Lion has totaled just 84 catches for 1,041 yards and 11 touchdowns. If we were talking about one season, we would be ecstatic with that. Granted, he hasn’t had the best quarterbacks or the best coordinators in the past to maximize his abilities.

New offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury is Dotson’s third coordinator in three years, so getting him on the same page in this offense is important.

Craig Hoffman, a radio host at The Team 980, believes that if the right offer came along, the Commanders could move Dotson onto his next NFL home.

“For Jahan, I wonder if he fits what they want, and if not, he could fit better somewhere else,” Hoffman said. “Dan Quinn and Adam Peters are trying to build their version of the Commanders. So, if someone came with a good offer for Jahan Dotson, it would not surprise me for a second if they were like, 'That’s good; we’ll take the draft capital.”

Peters values that capital a great deal, and the Commanders have only six picks in next year’s draft. It is possible? We suppose it is, but this is definitely a case of possible vs. probable.

If he doesn't produce this year, we could see it happening in the offseason. Unless the offer is just over the top, the probability is Dotson remains in Washington.

Meanwhile ... If Dotson can find that next gear in Kingsbury’s system alongside Terry McLaurin, this duo could power this Commanders offense into the playoffs alongside rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels.
